The Blurb

When Lewis’s family moves to a faraway town called Barrow, he can’t quite put his finger on what feels so strange about his new home. Everyone is obsessed with superstition, and an old story about floods and witches and a curse, while a mysterious bird watches his every move.

Then his family friend Moira arrives to stay. Only, there’s something peculiar about Moira too. She doesn’t know where she’s from, or even when she’s from, and strange things happen around her. Lewis and Moira are determined to figure out what’s going on in Barrow, but as they unravel secret symbols, riddles and stories of a midnight curse, they find that there might be some truth in the old town tales.

Time is running out, before magic switches up everything they know…

The Review

Spooktacular storytelling with just the right amount of shivers.

I loved sleuthing with Lewis and Moira. Both characters are easy to empathise with, and make a great team. We see not only grief for Lewis’s Grandad from both Lewis and his Dad, but also the grief that comes from leaving one life behind to start a new one away from familiar friends and routines.

Barrow, with its quaint traditions, Historical Society, and elite school, is at first a charming countryside town, nestled next to the moors. But, it takes very little for the veil to slip and to uncover a centuries old curse that some in the town would rather stayed hidden.

With a tantalizing blend of magic and mystery, The Midnight Switch is a must-read for anyone seeking an enthralling escape that will have you on the edge of your seat.
