The Blurb
Astrid Atomic, a six year old human person, goes to bed every night like every other six year old human person. But unlike many other six year olds she doesn’t stay there. The minute the lights are off and the coast is clear the Space Cadet siren goes off, her uniform goes on, and 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 – WHOOSH! – she blasts off on board the spaceship Stardust!
Along with her best pals Beryl, Professor Quackers and Zoink, Astrid is given her mission from The Chief – to clean up the Milky Way! But when a nearby alien is in trouble and with giant snailiens around, things aren’t likely to go to plan!

The Review
I am a huge fan of Alex’s work, whether it’s his picture books, Claude books, Mr. Penguin books, or his Christmas treasures including Winston. So, when a proof of his brand new early reader series landed, my squeals of excitement were at a level only his dogs could hear.
Alex’s smart wordplay and knack for slapstick comedy, coupled with his lively illustrations turns every page into a fun-filled cosmic adventure. The pace of the story keeps you hooked, seamlessly mixing humour and action. The Space Cadets’ mishaps and hilarious antics will make you laugh, no matter your age.
But it’s not just about the wild adventures. The book also shines a spotlight on friendship and teamwork. Astrid and her crew show how powerful working together and supporting each other through triumphs and mistakes can be, proving that tackling obstacles as a team often leads to unexpected victories.
Perfect for newly independent readers starting out on chapter books.
Great for fans of:

- Agents Of The Wild by Jennifer Bell and Alice Lickens
