Pink Trucks by Sam Clarke and Cory Reid

Publication Date: 18th April 2024

The Blurb

Stink loves trucks. Stink has HUGE trucks, FAST trucks, NOISY trucks, even special SPACE trucks. He has BLACK, BLUE, RED and little WHITE trucks. But Stink likes PINK . . . Can trucks be PINK?

When Stink’s quest for a PINK truck leads to a dead-end, his big sister helps him to make one out of recycled toys. In a surprising plot twist, Stink reveals his new pink truck to his friends hidden under a truck-print blanket, which his friend Ned cannot wait to wrap around his dolly!

The Review

Bright, bold illustrations are combined with rhythmic prose to create a story that challenges stereotypes while promoting innovation, problem solving and being yourself.

Through Stink’s journey, we are reminded that it’s okay to defy expectations and follow our passions, no matter how unconventional they may seem to others. I loved the reaction from his friends, particularly Ned, showcasing the importance of acceptance and embracing uniqueness.

The illustrations in Pink Truck are vibrant and engaging, capturing the energy and imagination of the story perfectly. Each page is filled with colourful trucks of all shapes and sizes, inviting young readers to immerse themselves in Stink’s world of adventure and creativity, and see how many not-pink trucks they can find!

Pink Trucks is a heart-warming and uplifting picture book that will inspire children to dream big, think outside the box, and challenge so called rules based on marketing and gender stereotyping.
