Postman Planet by Ben Davis, illustrated by Yasmin Sheikh

Publication Date: 15 January 2026

The Blurb

Postman Planet has a big secret. LOOK AWAY NOW IF YOU CAN’T KEEP SECRETS. Although he PRETENDS to be the best postman in the Universe, he’s actually only nine. Anyway, he’s on a mission to make an essential delivery to the Planet of Fluffy Unicorns: an inflatable planet that is, as we speak, deflating. It’s up to Postman Planet and his ANNOYING new assistant Stamp, who is part-robot part-dog, to save the day.

The Review

If you’re on the hunt for a high-energy read that will have you in stitches, then look no further than the latest gem from award-winning author Ben Davis. Postman Planet is the first book in a brand-new, highly-illustrated series full of cosmic capers.

Beyond the chaos and the giggles, there are some really lovely underlying themes of friendship, sharing, and the importance of teamwork.

It is laugh-out-loud funny from start to finish. Ben has captured that frantic, silly energy that kids just adore, and his energy is perfectly matched by Yasmin’s fabulously funny illustrations throughout the book.

I loved how accessible it is, and I know that with its short chapters and pages packed with hilarious illustrations, it’s a dream for reluctant readers or anyone aged 6 and up. I devoured this in one sitting and can’t wait for more from this series!

Great for fans of:

  • Star Cat by James Turner
  • Astrid And The Space Cadets by Alex T Smith
  • Grimwood by Nadia Shireen

Huge thanks to Simon & Schuster for sending me a finished copy for review.
