Tiny Hercules by Jon Lock and Nich Angell

Publication Date: 5 February 2026

The Blurb

He’s brave! He’s strong! He’s the size of a jam jar! He’s Tiny Hercules, the world’s tiniest hero – and he’s winning his way back to Tiny Olympus, one legendary deed at a time!

Tiny Hercules has been banished to Earth as a punishment for ruining Tiny Zeus’s bodacious party. To get home he must complete twelve legendary tasks but it isn’t going to be easy – even for a demigod. Crash landing in the peaceful town of Chutney-on-Toast, Tiny Hercules soon spots his first task: defeating a lion! (or maybe it’s a cat!)

All hell breaks loose in this zany comic book adventure!

The Review

Tiny Hercules is the riotous new book from Jon Lock and Nich Angell, and it’s one that I am certain will be disappearing from my library shelves as soon as I put it out. Fast-paced, punchy, and visually exploding with energy, this is a showcase in why comics and graphic novels are so popular.

Blending epic mythological ambition and small-scale domestic chaos, the reader is immersed in an incredibly funny book from the very first page. Seeing a jam-jar-sized demigod try to navigate the very British-sounding town of Chutney-on-Toast is pure comedy gold.

Because it’s a comic, the humour isn’t just in the dialogue; it’s in the frantic expressions and the sheer scale of the tiny hero compared to the world around him. The art style captures that frantic, Saturday-morning-cartoon vibe perfectly.

I loved the sheer energy of the storytelling. The illustrations are vibrant and punchy, perfectly matching the fast-paced, all hell breaks loose nature of the plot.

A great introduction to Hercules, but with much more silliness and fewer togas.

Great for fans of:

Huge thanks to Macmillan for sending me an early proof copy.
