The Review

Right, have you read Oh Maya Gods! yet? What do you mean no? Go and read that first – honestly you’ll thank me for it later. And if you have – you’re more than ready for the next instalment from the Gods Squad… a riotous rollercoaster ride packed with hilarious mishaps, unexpected alliances, and larger-than-life showdowns.

From the very first page, we are plunged into a world teetering on the brink of annihilation, where the fate of Earth depends on the Omnitheon, or anyone who bypasses them and makes a decision. The stakes couldn’t be higher as Vesper and Aster must navigate the treacherous depths of the Egyptian underworld to confront Seth and save Ra, thereby averting cataclysmic disaster.

Vesper and Aster must rely on their quick wit and unorthodox tactics to outsmart their adversaries and save the day. As our duo face off against an Ancient Egyptian villain hell bent on causing chaos, they discover the true strength of their bond and the power of teamwork in overcoming seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

The looming spectre of death and destruction casts a palpable shadow over the story, much like the prophecy that set events in motion, as Vesper and Aster once again find the fate of the modern world in their hands, and their lives, quite literally hang in the balance. Yet, moments of pure belly laughter punctuate the chaos and despair, serving as beacons of light in the darkness of the Duat. There was also a moment where fans of original series may finally find some peace with regards to one of the characters.

It was lovely to be reunited with Hephaestus, fixer of all things, both physical and emotional. Much needed at Home Farm, he adds both humour and heart, along with a good dose of slapstick in his dealings with the bumbling Snydes, who are determined to take up the mantle of taking Elliot’s home from him, much like their Aunty Patricia before them.

With its infectious sense of humour, action-packed plot, and endearing characters, Oh Mummy Mia! is sure to leave readers both entertained and eagerly anticipating the final adventure – Oh What A Knight!
