Tiny Owl’s Scary Day by Petr Horácek

Publication Date: 2 November 2023

The Blurb

Tiny Owl wants to explore the day. Mummy Owl says the day can be dangerous but Tiny Owl isn’t scared! So, when Mummy Owl is asleep, Tiny Owl tiptoes out of the nest and flies off. There are all kinds of other birds and animals out during the day, and everything is so colourful!

But maybe night-time is best for owls after all…

The Review

In this fabulous spin on the stories looking at fear of the dark, we see Tiny Owl frightened of things that go creak crack in the day.

I love that as the reader, we get to see what Tiny Owl can’t in Petr’s distinctive, bold and vibrant illustrations, that add to the sense of awe and wonder felt on her journey. Humour shines from the pages, especially when Tiny Owl finds some friends.

Petr expertly weaves a valuable lesson about self-discovery and the importance of listening to the wisdom of those who care for us into his delightful story about an owl who is determined to experience daytime for themselves.

Huge thanks to Walker Books for sending me a copy.
