The Review
A spellbinding journey across continents, uncovering clues and encountering a menagerie of magical creatures that left me desperate for more, so I’m delighted that this is the first in a new series.
With intricate world-building and a keen eye for detail, Jennifer brings to life a vibrant and fantastical realm which sits inside our own, that had me eagerly exploring from the very beginning.
I loved the dazzling array of creatures conjoured within the story, and David Wyatt’s stunning black and white illustrations of them at the start of each chapter. From the towering hamstoceros to the mischievous ozoz, each magical creature is crafted with care, adding depth and richness to the magical world Bitsy and Kosh find themselves racing through.
The power of friendship, the importance of courage and creativity, the exploration of complex emotions, and centuries-old rivalries and mistrust are woven together within the story, creating much to discuss beyond the pages, which will help to build emotional intelligence and empathy.
So, hold on tight and prepare to be swept away on an unforgettable journey into the world of Magicalia.
