The breathtakingly beautiful cover encloses a dark story with a heartwarming message.

“Crow saw it first. The strange white creature carried upon the dark waves towards the shore.”

And so, we are introduced to Leaf, a polar bear carried to a strange place far from home and family. A place where the other creatures are afraid of the strange white creature and wish he would leave.

The story reads like a fable, with a strong message of communication being the key to understanding each other, and removing fear of the unknown. The illustrations are mesmerising, with intricate details to explore over and over again. The two combined create a powerful book that deserves to be enjoyed and explored by children of any age.

Huge thanks to the Federation of Children’s Book Groups and Flying Eye Books for this stunning book that deserves a special place on my school bookshelf.
