The Blurb
Jowan wants only one thing – to bond with a dragon of his own. Then disaster strikes and his world suddenly turns into a darker and more dangerous place. But a new friend and an astonishing discovery could lead him to what he has always wanted….if he is just willing to take a leap of faith and brave the impossible in the face of an erupting volcano. Can he act before it is too late?

The Review
Book two in the Legends Of The Sky trilogy, Rise Of The Shadow Dragons takes us back to Arcosi 10 years after the events in Dragon Daughter, but can be read as a stand alone book.
Once again, Liz immerses us in a rich fantasy world where the history, culture and politics are woven together. While revisiting previous characters, this story focuses on a new generation of dragon riders in a much changed city. We return at a time when the Brotherhood are vying for supremacy, providing an undercurrent of tension and foreboding, and painting a city on the verge of implosion.
We also get to explore beneath Arcosi, in a skilfully drawn labyrinthine network of caves and tunnels that allow Joe to seek refuge and heal, physically and emotionally, as he battles to accept all of who he is. As nature mirrors the violent emotions playing out on Arcosi, they also offer a place of rebirth and reconciliation not just for Jowan, but for a whole city.
Fans of epic adventures and immersive fantasy worlds will find themselves thoroughly enchanted by the depth and allure of Arcosi’s skies and shadows. With book three, The Pirate’s Dragon, coming in March, this is a fantasy world I cannot wait to escape back to.
Great for fans of:
- Mold And The Poison Plot by Lorraine Gregory
- Adia Kelbara And The Circle Of Shamens by Isi Hendrix
- Impossible Creatures by Katherine Rundell
