Pages & Co: Tilly And The Bookwanderers by Anna James

The Blurb

A captivating, curl-up-on-the-sofa debut about the magic of books and the power of the imagination.
Since her mother’s disappearance, eleven-year-old Tilly has found comfort in stories at Pages & Co., her grandparents’ bookshop. But when her favourite characters, Anne of Green Gables and Alice from Wonderland, appear in the shop, Tilly’s adventures become very real. Not only can she follow Anne and Alice into their thrilling worlds, she discovers she can bookwander into any story she chooses.

Tilly’s new ability could even help her solve the mystery of what happened to her mother all those years ago. But danger may be lurking on the very next page…

The Review

A must read for book lovers, Pages & Co is a sheer delight.

From the glorious nooks and crannies within Pages & Co bookshop and the mouthwatering creations straight from favourite books in their cafe, to the mysterious Underlibrary and the books to which Tilly & Oskar travel in, Anna James has created worlds so rich it is easy to believe you are bookwandering with them. The magic within the pages which is unleashed in bookshops and libraries around the world is something anyone who escapes into stories would love to truly experience!

To take classic, much loved characters like Alice from Wonderland and Anne of Green Gables, keeping them true to their original stories, while creating a totally new one is a formidable task which Anna has achieved with ease.

I especially loved Tilly’s relationship with her grandparents, their love for each other shines, and as their story progresses, their desire to help each other as they explore Tilly’s exceptional bookwandering abilities, and to offer comfort when the past returns to haunt them is especially heartwarming.

Great for fans of classic children’s books, The Lost Magician. This is set to become a classic in its own right, and I can’t wait for more adventures.

Pages & Co: Tilly and the Bookwanderers by Anna James was published on 18th September 2018 £12.99 hardback, and is available from all good bookshops now.
