Radio Boy by Christian O’Connell

Spike Hughes dreams of being a superstar Radio DJ. A self-professed nerd, with only two friends, he starts his career at the local hospital radio station, like all of his favourite radio DJs. But, he is fired after losing his only listener.

All hope is not lost as his Headteacher launches a school radio station, and Spike is sure he and his friends, Artie and Holly, will get the job, but when Mr Harris hands Merit Radio to his son, there is only one thing left to do; launch their own station. The Secret Shed Show takes to the airwaves, and Radio Boy is born. What follows is the stuff AV Club dreams are made of, maybe…

This is a hilarious story, a true Adrian Mole for the social media generation, with a message that rings true for every child; follow your dreams, believe in yourself, and never, ever lie to your mum.

Great for fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Geek Girl, David Solomons and Barry Hutchinson.
