I cannot tell you how excited I was to finally get my hands on a copy of this book, just in time for the start of the summer holidays. And what a way to kick them off it was!

We rejoin Elliot, Virgo and the Olympian Gods at Home Farm mid-crisis as: Virgo finds out just how dreadful being a mortal teenager can be; Elliot knows his mum, Josie, is getting sicker by the day; a letter arrives that unleashes a twelve year old secret; and news arrives that Thanatos is back and desperate to get his hands on the Chaos Stones once more. But, Thanatos isn’t the only one scheming against Elliot…

When Elliot needs help most, the Zodiac Council refuse to give Virgo’s kardia back until she proves that she is a hero, and Hera places the Gods under house arrest, preventing them from using their powers. All that is, except for Hermes. Can the three of them outwit the Daemon of Death on their own?

The jokes come thick and fast in an action packed sequel that, in my opinion, is even better than Who Let The Gods Out? Maz Evans weaves Ancient Greek Gods and Heroes into modern day life as though they were always supposed to be here, taking the reader on a journey through all of their emotions, as Elliot is forced to question what makes people, including himself, good or bad.

There are some exceptionally touching moments, in between the action and the hilarious one liners, with issues surrounding being a young carer once again handled with heart and humour. The love and friendship shown by characters towards each other ensures they find a place in your soul that has you rooting for them all.

I laughed, I cried, I loved it. Just a brilliant book, you have to read it! It’s going to be a very long wait for Book 3.
